At this time, most African Americans were still slaves. But, through this tale readers will hear the story of Bass Reeves, an African American who had escaped slavery by going into Indian Territory. Readers will learn about his struggle as an African American man who is trying to enforce the laws among those who do not quite agree with him having such a position. Readers will also learn how successful Reeves was, despite all his struggles. With interestingly drawn pictures and the test looking as if it was newsprint, readers will instantly be drawn into this amazing tale.
