The setting of a story is always very important. In Bridge to Terabithia it is crucial. The two main characters and unlikely friends, Jess and Leslie create their own sanctuary in their backyard, Terabithia. Terabithia is an invention all created by the very creative and intelligent main characters, as a means of pretend and escape from everyday lives. The reader also sees other settings that can be easily identifiable such as a home with more than enough siblings, one with none, as well as a school with all of the normal elements. This story also depicts the evaluation criteria of theme through the stories of the lives of our main characters, their families, friends and classmates. The reader learns the importance of friendship, sacrifice, and love through the theme of this wonderful, yet heart wrenching tale of two young best friends.
