Legend of the Bluebonnet

Many people have read the popular Legend of the Bluebonnet. Many of Texas know the tale of our state flower. However, do many people see this as the beautiful illustration of theme that it is? The Native American tribe in this story is concerned, they are in a drought and they have been for a while. When the shaman returned and told the people of the tribe that the spirits required a sacrifice of their most prized possessions in order to end the drought, many people made excuses. Not our main character, through her readers learn the meaning of sacrifice and selflessness. This beautifully illustrated story is one that all children, especially those in Texas need to read, not only for the theme but for the beautiful illustrations and story as well.
