Copper Sun
This book tells the story of a young girl who is stolen from her home, her village, and sold into slavery. Talented author, Sharon Draper, tells this story wonderfully. Readers feel like they are living the story along with the main character, Amari, feeling the things that she feels, seeing the things she sees, and more. Other stories tell the occurrences of plantation life through the eye of an observer, giving information. This story shows the reader what happens through a first hand account, making the reader feel like they are there, like they are living the story themselves.
