Rules

Link to Amazon
Through the story of a brother and sister who are different than many, Rules meets both the criteria of plot and theme beautifully. The theme of this story teaches readers that everyone’s situation is different and that everyone deserves to be accepted for who they truly are, not what they are at face value. The plot of this story follows a young girl, Catherine, takes on the task of teaching her brother, David, who has autism, the rules of life that many take for granted. The reader follows David and Catherine through many different of the “normal” aspects of life, learning how things are in their lives. Readers will learn through the daily lives of these characters what it means to have a sibling with a disability and will see through this well thought out and organized plot how these character deal with these everyday situations.
